Bronze sculptures as modern artworks have entered ordinary families. As a fan of bronze sculpture artworks, you need to know some knowledge about the maintenance of bronze sculptures.
- Daily cleaning
Use soft brush/suede cloth: Use dry microfiber cloth or soft brush to gently sweep the surface dust every week to avoid scratching with hard objects. Stubborn stains can be wiped locally with cotton swabs dipped in distilled water (need to be wiped dry immediately)
Prohibited chemical agents: It is strictly forbidden to use detergents, alcohol and other solvents. The oxide layer on the surface of bronze is prone to irreversible damage when encountering chemicals. - Environmental control
Humidity management: Maintain an ambient humidity of 40-55%, equipped with an electronic moisture-proof box or silica gel desiccant (replaced every quarter).
Stable temperature: Maintain a constant temperature of 18-25℃ and avoid direct sunlight (ultraviolet rays will accelerate the formation of patina).
Isolation placement: Keep a distance of more than 30cm from acidic materials such as rubber and wood to prevent chemical reactions between materials. - Oxidation protection
Micro-oxidation treatment: Use a thin coating of professional bronze maintenance wax (such as Renaissance microcrystalline wax) every year to form a breathable protective film.
Patina control: If local excessive oxidation occurs, apply a cotton pad with sodium bicarbonate solution (5% concentration) for 15 minutes and then gently handle it. - Special condition treatment
Salt erosion response: Clean with deionized water vapor every six months in coastal areas (professional equipment required).
Biological erosion: If mildew spots are found, immediately wipe with anhydrous ethanol, and sterilize with ultraviolet light for 10 minutes per week.
Structural damage: If cracks/deformations occur, contact the cultural relics restoration agency and use professional metal epoxy resin to repair.
